Shopify AI Order Risk Flagger (n8n Template)

Catch risky orders before you ship them. This n8n agent reads every new Shopify order the moment it comes in, looks for fraud and risk signals, and adds clear risk- tags to the order. You filter your orders by those tags, review the flagged ones, and fulfill with confidence. It never removes the tags an order already has, so it sits on top of whatever you already do.

What is included

What it flags

• Address mismatch – billing and shipping countries do not match.
• High value – the order total is above a limit you set.
• New customer, big spend – a first time buyer placing a large order.
• Reseller quantities – unusually large item counts.
• Rush shipping to a different country – a common card testing pattern.

Every threshold lives in one place in the workflow, so you set your own currency, home country, and value limits in a minute. Orders that look clean get a single risk-clear tag, and orders with two or more signals also get a needs-review tag so you can build a review queue.

What you need

• Your own n8n instance, cloud or self hosted.
• A free Google Gemini API key from Google AI Studio. No paid OpenAI key needed.
• A Shopify access token with read and write order access. Since January 2026 you create this in the Shopify Dev Dashboard, and the setup guide walks you through it.

How it works

1. A new order is placed in your Shopify store.
2. The AI reads the order total, item counts, customer history, billing and shipping countries, and shipping method, and decides which risk signals apply. It judges only from the order, so it never invents facts.
3. The matching risk- tags are added to the order, on top of any tags it already has.

It runs free at typical store volume on Google Gemini’s free tier, so screening your orders costs nothing. This is a self serve template for store owners who run their own n8n and Google Gemini key.
